If you would like to review or update your child’s photo permissions, please feel free to contact the office — we’d be happy to help. <img src="/images/fa66400b-2504-44bb-ad13-0eee348c2730" alt="Playground Structure" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"><h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Exciting School Yard Improvements Coming to Glenburnie!</h2> We are excited to share a look at the upcoming improvements to our school yard — including a dedicated kindergarten play space and enhanced outdoor areas for all students. The photo above (pirate flags will be removed and a shade canopy added) is just one of our new additions to our yard for September!Our kindergarten students will benefit from a separate, thoughtfully designed outdoor space that supports play, exploration, and early learning. This area will include sand play, natural elements such as logs and stumps for balancing and climbing, a playhouse for imaginative play, and an outdoor learning space with seating and a double-sided chalkboard. The design focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment tailored to the needs of our youngest learners.Beyond the kindergarten area, we are enhancing the rest of the yard to better support play, learning, and physical activity for all students. Highlights include:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Relocation of our existing (older) play structure to create additional play opportunities</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">New soccer fields and nets to support games and teamwork</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">A rope climbing feature for active play</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Outdoor classroom spaces with seating and chalkboards</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">New tree planting to increase shade and natural green space</li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem">Basketball areas with nets at different heights</li><li value="7" class="editor-listitem">Natural seating areas using logs and stone for gathering and socializing</li></ul>These improvements are designed to create a more inclusive, engaging, and active outdoor environment for all of our students. A CPIC (vulnerable sector) is required if they will are providing direct one-on-one supervision to any students.Do you have a special skill that you could offer to our students? We can host any type of club (e.g. checkers, puzzles, embroidery, yo-yo, dance, singing, crafts, skipping, yoga, colouring). You name it, we probably have some kids that would like it. Your club can be any size and any grades that you want. Our time frames are school days during recess 11:10-11:30 or 1:30-1:50. Time frames are up to you (e.g. every Tuesday in April at 1st recess - maximum 7 students).Our Food Sharing Project provider is providing us with lunches for our students. It will not be enough for a full lunch for students, just a little addition to their lunch. The menu will vary each week depending on what they have available. Some of the items may be quiche, soup, burrito bowls, mac & cheese etc... We are looking for volunteers that would be able to heat up, serve and clean-up afterwards. The food would be delivered on Wednesday so we would need volunteers for each Thursday starting about 11:30 to be ready for our kids by 1:10. A huge thank you to our volunteers for the hard work organizing this. Our library will also be run by our wonderful volunteers.If you have any school age, gently used books that you would like to donate to the school we will be happy to accept them.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Bringing Food Into the School</h2>Glenburnie Public School’s approach to food brought into the school is guided by Limestone District School Board Administrative Procedures and reflects our commitment to student well-being, equity, and high-quality learning environments.During the school day, our priority is learning. To support this, Glenburnie is continuing to move toward celebrations and special events that do not involve food being brought into the classroom. This approach helps maintain consistent routines, protects instructional time, and ensures that all students can participate fully and comfortably in shared experiences.Celebrations that focus on connection rather than food—such as games, performances, creative activities, spirit days, or community-building experiences—support a strong sense of belonging and reflect our values of inclusion, dignity, and equity. These experiences allow every child to feel part of the moment in a meaningful way.<h3 class="editor-heading-h3">Reminder that our school is a Nut Aware School. Due to some very serious allergies, we ask that we be considered a NUT-FREE ZONE. We are unique in offering both English and French Immersion programs in both Year 1 (Junior) and Year 2 (Senior) Kindergarten. Students may start school in September if they turn age four (Year 1 Kindergarten) or age five (Year 2 Kindergarten) by December 31 of that year. The photo above (pirate flags will be removed and a shade canopy added) is just one of our new additions to our yard for September!Our kindergarten students will benefit from a separate, thoughtfully designed outdoor space that supports play, exploration, and early learning. This area will include sand play, natural elements such as logs and stumps for balancing and climbing, a playhouse for imaginative play, and an outdoor learning space with seating and a double-sided chalkboard. The design focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment tailored to the needs of our youngest learners.Beyond the kindergarten area, we are enhancing the rest of the yard to better support play, learning, and physical activity for all students. CPIC is required if they will are providing direct one-on-one supervision to any students.Do you have a special skill that you could offer to our students? We can host any type of club (e.g. checkers, puzzles, embroidery, yo-yo, dance, singing, crafts, skipping, yoga, colouring). You name it, we probably have some kids that would like it. Your club can be any size and any grades that you want. Our time frames are school days during recess 11:10-11:30 or 1:30-1:50. Time frames are up to you (e.g. every Tuesday in April at 1st recess - maximum 7 students).Our Food Sharing Project provider is providing us with lunches for our students. It will not be enough for a full lunch for students, just a little addition to their lunch. The menu will vary each week depending on what they have available. Some of the items may be quiche, soup, burrito bowls, mac & cheese etc... We are looking for volunteers that would be able to heat up, serve and clean-up afterwards. The food would be delivered on Wednesday so we would need volunteers for each Thursday starting about 11:30 to be ready for our kids by 1:10. To support this, Glenburnie is continuing to move toward celebrations and special events that do not involve food being brought into the classroom. The photo above (pirate flags will be removed and a shade canopy added) is just one of our new additions to our yard for September!Our kindergarten students will benefit from a separate, thoughtfully designed outdoor space that supports play, exploration, and early learning. This area will include sand play, natural elements such as logs and stumps for balancing and climbing, a playhouse for imaginative play, and an outdoor learning space with seating and a double-sided chalkboard. The design focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment tailored to the needs of our youngest learners.Beyond the kindergarten area, we are enhancing the rest of the yard to better support play, learning, and physical activity for all students. CPIC is required if they will are providing direct one-on-one supervision to any students.Do you have a special skill that you could offer to our students? We can host any type of club (e.g. checkers, puzzles, embroidery, yo-yo, dance, singing, crafts, skipping, yoga, colouring). You name it, we probably have some kids that would like it. Your club can be any size and any grades that you want. Our time frames are school days during recess 11:10-11:30 or 1:30-1:50. Time frames are up to you (e.g. every Tuesday in April at 1st recess - maximum 7 students).Our Food Sharing Project provider is providing us with lunches for our students. It will not be enough for a full lunch for students, just a little addition to their lunch. The menu will vary each week depending on what they have available. Some of the items may be quiche, soup, burrito bowls, mac & cheese etc... We are looking for volunteers that would be able to heat up, serve and clean-up afterwards. The food would be delivered on Wednesday so we would need volunteers for each Thursday starting about 11:30 to be ready for our kids by 1:10. To support this, Glenburnie is continuing to move toward celebrations and special events that do not involve food being brought into the classroom. This approach helps maintain consistent routines, protects instructional time, and ensures that all students can participate fully and comfortably in shared experiences.Celebrations that focus on connection rather than food—such as games, performances, creative activities, spirit days, or community-building experiences—support a strong sense of belonging and reflect our values of inclusion, dignity, and equity. These experiences allow every child to feel part of the moment in a meaningful way.Reminder that our school is a Nut Aware School. Due to some very serious allergies, we ask that we be considered a NUT-FREE ZONE. Parents/caregivers can use the SafeArrival system to report a full day absence, an extended student absence and also a late arrival to school. When reporting an absence for a secondary student parents/caregivers will also be able to select an early departure. About Our School

Welcome to Glenburnie Public School! We are a small school with a big heart where we work hard, have fun and get involved in many interesting, purposeful pursuits. Students, staff and parents collaborate each day to ensure student learning and well being. Students are challenged to think critically and creatively and to collaborate to solve problems and learn to the best of their ability. Our students are curious and insightful and are encouraged to take risks and perservere through challenges. We offer many oportunities for students to get involved in academics, athletics, the creative arts and by being throughtful, caring citizens who make a difference in our school community and beyond. Dear Families,As we enter the spring season and final third of the school year, we are reminded of this season’s promise of renewal and growth, and the key role schools and families have together in supporting student learning and well-being. This time of <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">year</a> brings many opportunities for learning both inside and outside of the classroom, along with the return of outdoor extracurricular activities. While this week has been very wet and rainy, the warmer temperatures of spring are upon us.  I would like to take this opportunity to share a few important updates with you:P.A. Day – Friday, April 17A reminder to families that tomorrow, Friday, April 17, is a P.A. Day. There will be no classes for students, and we look forward to welcoming them back to school on Monday.Family Engagement and Climate Survey – Coming in MayIn early May, Limestone will be inviting families to take part in a Family Engagement and Climate Survey. The optional survey is anonymous, and families can choose which questions they want to answer.The survey asks about topics such as feeling connected to school, family involvement, safety and bullying, communication, before- and after-school programming, and how technology like artificial intelligence is used in schools.The feedback shared through this survey helps schools and the school board understand what is working well, what could improve, and what may make it harder for some families to take part. Reviewing and analyzing this information helps support safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environments and supports the board’s obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code. The <a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/documents/dff6803b-6f2d-4d36-a758-68758a63ceb3/2026-04-09-Student-Human-Rights-Data-Summary-for-2024-2025.pdf" class="editor-link">Student Human Rights Reports – 2024-2025 Summary is now available online</a> and can be accessed by families. Student Census 2025 UpdateIn November 2025, Limestone completed the See Yourself in Limestone: Student Census 2025, a voluntary and confidential survey that helps us better understand students’ identities and school experiences. The findings support planning and decision-making that promotes equity, well being, and student success across Limestone schools. An overview of the Student Census 2025 was presented to the Board of Trustees at last night’s board meeting. In fact, Limestone is performing at or above the provincial average in nearly all measures.These results reflect the collective efforts of Limestone educators, Educational Assistants, program teams, and school leaders—supported by the ongoing commitment of students and families across our district. Hosting an international student is a meaningful way to bring the world into your home while making a positive difference in a young person’s life. Limestone homestay families are carefully matched with students and supported by dedicated Limestone staff throughout the placement, so families are never on their own. Hosting offers opportunities for cultural exchange, the development of lasting relationships, and a monthly stipend to help offset costs.
