The photo above (pirate flags will be removed and a shade canopy added) is just one of our new additions to our yard for September!</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our kindergarten students will benefit from a </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">separate, thoughtfully designed outdoor space</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> that supports play, exploration, and early learning. This area will include sand play, natural elements such as logs and stumps for balancing and climbing, a playhouse for imaginative play, and an outdoor learning space with seating and a double-sided chalkboard. The design focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment tailored to the needs of our youngest learners.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Beyond the kindergarten area, we are enhancing the rest of the yard to better support play, learning, and physical activity for all students. </span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Highlights include:</span></p><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Relocation of our existing (older) play structure to create additional play opportunities</span></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">New soccer fields and nets to support games and teamwork</span></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">A rope climbing feature for active play</span></li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Outdoor classroom spaces with seating and chalkboards</span></li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">New tree planting to increase shade and natural green space</span></li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Basketball areas with nets at different heights</span></li><li value="7" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Natural seating areas using logs and stone for gathering and socializing</span></li></ul><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">These improvements are designed to create a more inclusive, engaging, and active outdoor environment for all of our students. To support this, Glenburnie is continuing to move toward celebrations and special events that do not involve food being brought into the classroom. The photo above (pirate flags will be removed and a shade canopy added) is just one of our new additions to our yard for September!</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our kindergarten students will benefit from a </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">separate, thoughtfully designed outdoor space</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> that supports play, exploration, and early learning. This area will include sand play, natural elements such as logs and stumps for balancing and climbing, a playhouse for imaginative play, and an outdoor learning space with seating and a double-sided chalkboard. A CPIC (vulnerable sector) is required if they will are providing direct one-on-one supervision to any students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Do you have a </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">special skill that you could offer to our students</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">? We can host any type of club (e.g. checkers, puzzles, embroidery, yo-yo, dance, singing, crafts, skipping, yoga, colouring). You name it, we probably have some kids that would like it. Your club can be any size and any grades that you want. Our time frames are school days during recess 11:10-11:30 or 1:30-1:50. Time frames are up to you (e.g. every Tuesday in April at 1st recess - maximum 7 students).</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our Food Sharing Project provider is providing us with </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">lunches for our students</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">. It will not be enough for a full lunch for students, just a little addition to their lunch. The menu will vary each week depending on what they have available. Some of the items may be quiche, soup, burrito bowls, mac &amp; cheese etc... We are looking for volunteers that would be able to heat up, serve and clean-up afterwards. The food would be delivered on Wednesday so we would need volunteers for each Thursday starting about 11:30 to be ready for our kids by 1:10. The photo above (pirate flags will be removed and a shade canopy added) is just one of our new additions to our yard for September!</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our kindergarten students will benefit from a </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">separate, thoughtfully designed outdoor space</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> that supports play, exploration, and early learning. This area will include sand play, natural elements such as logs and stumps for balancing and climbing, a playhouse for imaginative play, and an outdoor learning space with seating and a double-sided chalkboard. A CPIC (vulnerable sector) is required if they will are providing direct one-on-one supervision to any students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Do you have a </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">special skill that you could offer to our students</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">? We can host any type of club (e.g. checkers, puzzles, embroidery, yo-yo, dance, singing, crafts, skipping, yoga, colouring). You name it, we probably have some kids that would like it. Your club can be any size and any grades that you want. Our time frames are school days during recess 11:10-11:30 or 1:30-1:50. Time frames are up to you (e.g. every Tuesday in April at 1st recess - maximum 7 students).</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our Food Sharing Project provider is providing us with </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">lunches for our students</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">. It will not be enough for a full lunch for students, just a little addition to their lunch. The menu will vary each week depending on what they have available. Some of the items may be quiche, soup, burrito bowls, mac &amp; cheese etc... We are looking for volunteers that would be able to heat up, serve and clean-up afterwards. The food would be delivered on Wednesday so we would need volunteers for each Thursday starting about 11:30 to be ready for our kids by 1:10. To support this, Glenburnie is continuing to move toward celebrations and special events that do not involve food being brought into the classroom. Over the coming months, Limestone staff will be reviewing and updating course outlines, assessment practices, and supporting resources to ensure alignment with the new provincial requirements.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Food Sharing Project Update</strong></b></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">During the 2025-2026 school year, The Food Sharing Project supported every LDSB school by providing nutritious food and resources to students each day. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity.
